(HOT SPRINGS—OCTOBER 2, 2024) The United Way of the Ouachitas will hold its annual Campaign Kick-Off and New Executive Director Meet and Greet event as UWO looks forward to 2025. The reception will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Destiny’s Bakeshop, 1001 Central Ave. Light refreshments will be provided by Destiny’s.

The Campaign Kick-Off will set into motion the annual giving campaign for 2025, which includes pledges and contributions made by individuals, employees, businesses, and foundations.

Livvey Rurup, the new United Way of the Ouachitas Executive Director, will also be on-hand to meet members of the community and share her enthusiasm for the United Way, as well as her vision for the organization. Rurup, who started as the organization’s executive director on Oct. 1, has extensive experience and expertise in nonprofit organizations, including other United Ways, and looks forward to serving her community.

In addition to Rurup, featured speakers will include Don Gooch, Regional Director of Community Banks at Arvest, and Janie Smith, Certified Executive Director of Jackson House.

During the annual employee giving campaign, CEOs and campaign coordinators encourage employees to give to United Way. They motivate people to give by educating them about the needs in the community and asking them to participate in company activities. Giving to United Way is any easy way to benefit United Way's Community Partner Agencies and Community Impact Actions, such as Day of Caring, We've Got Talent, and Stuff the Bus.
