FACE to FACE PROGRAM: A humanitarian and educational surgical exchange program conducted under the sponsorship of the Educational and Research Foundation for AAFPRS. In the United States and abroad, AAFPRS surgeons provide complimentary care to those who suffer from facial deformities caused by birth or trauma. The program offers individuals the opportunity to overcome the physical limitations placed on them by circumstances beyond their control:  deformities at birth, domestic violence and war.  AAFPRS surgeons use their expertise to perform plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head and neck. Solomon's Porch

Solomon's Porch is a faith based program designed to restore the lives of men with life control issues. They house 30 men in 3 different locations.  Solomon's Porch provides the tools and resources needed to lead a clean and sober life before and after they leave the program.  All the men must maintain employment and are responsible for weekly program fees.  We are also closely tied to the Garland County court system.  Our court liaison, Seth Gideon, works closely with Judge Wright and Judge Ohm to ensure any legal requirements and obligations are met by our residents.

One of the major differences between traditional recovery programs and our centers is our emphasis on Christian values and cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Burn Survivor Adult Retreat

The Adult Burn Survivor Retreat is offered to burn survivors, family members, caregivers and staff.   Many burn survivors struggle with transitioning into their “normal” lives after a burn injury because there is often a need to learn a new “normal”. The retreat is an event for adult to meet others who are surviving and living in a world of adjustment and awareness of their scars. ​Caregivers Support Group, Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, HSV  

So often it is difficult to know what to say or do or how to provide meaningful activity for someone who has memory loss or diminished capacity. Vigil, is an experienced professional in the field, and in this two-hour workshop she will help caregivers learn how they can offer no-cost or low cost activities with loved ones and friends for whom they are providing care. There is no cost to attend.  Christ of the Hills also hosts a regular support group meeting of caregivers on the first and third Thursdays each month at 11 a.m.

Threshold Singers of Hot Springs-Garland County Only

Threshold Singers of Hot Springs is a group dedicated to bringing comfort, ease and companionship to people at the thresholds of living and dying. The group brings a calm and focused presence at the bedside, with gentle voices, simple songs and sincere kindness.  We visit in small groups of two to four singers and sing in 2-3 parts acapella. We choose songs to respond to the client's musical taste, spiritual direction and current receptivity. Many of the songs we offer are composed by Threshold Choir members specifically to communicate ease, comfort and presence. Threshold Singers of Hot Springs abides by HIPAA and hospice regulations. There is no fee for visits. Many of the people we visit are in hospice care but we also sing for those with debilitating illness, chronic pain and long-term confinement. 
If you are interested in joining the group contact the director, Kathie White, at (501) 520-7272.  The singers rehearse on Mondays at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church located at 841 Quapaw Avenue.  There is no audition but singers need to be able to read simple music and to hold a separate part acapella. Abilities Unlimited Inc.

Abilities Unlimited of Hot Springs, AR, Inc. provides service opportunities related to employment and
life skills to disabled adults and students. For adults with a developmental disability, independent
living skills and pre-vocational opportunities are provided through the ADDT Medicaid day program or
training of employment skills through the Work Training Center (WTC, non-Medicaid) also in a
day program. In partnership with many school districts, students with a 504 plan or an IEP are
offered transition services through the Pathways 2 Employment (P2E) program to prepare/equip
them for competitive employment upon graduation. Adults who have SSI can find employment
assistance through the Ticket to Work (TTW) program and others who qualify for Supported
Employment through ARS may seek employment support to assist them in
seeking/finding/getting/keeping a job. Licenses/special certificates are held by DDS, ARS, SSA, DOL
and others.

Arkansas Apprenticeship Pathways Initiative (AAPI)

Winrock International and Arkansas Department of Workforce Services is associate with the AAPI program.  AAPI seeks to develop and promote Registered Apprenticeship Program around the state.  The HVAC Technician is a program that is being offered at National Park College located in Hot Springs.  This is a 3 year program that includes 160 classroom hours and 2,000 on-the-job-training hours.  Classes meet from 6pm-9pm, 2 nights per week, for a 12 week semester.  The cost of the program is $450 per year (billed at $225 per semester).  Students may enter the program as a pre-apprentice and earn classroom hours while seeking employment as a HVAC apprentice.  To be eligible, individuals must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma/GED, and state ID.  If an individual is interested they should contact program director, Pam Castleberry (501) 760-7392, Pam.Castleberry@np.edu.   Our website provides Information about AAPI and other Registered Apprenticeship Programs and is provided in both English and Spanish.

Hot Springs School District Family Outreach (Backpack Program)

The Backpack Program was launched to help fill weekend gaps for hungry children.  The concept is simple:  teachers and school administrators work to enroll children who can benefit in the program at the beginning of the school year. A headcount is submitted to the Arkansas Foodbank, which then provides monthly food deliveries to Langston Elementary. Teachers at Langston organize and store the packages.  Every Friday, packages are inconspicuously placed in the backpacks of recipient children for them to take home.  Portions placed in backpacks are meant to provide three meals for the children on Saturday and Sunday.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation's oldest program to help low-income, unemployed individuals’ aged 55+ find work. Threshold Singers of Hot Springs

Threshold Singers of Hot Springs is a group dedicated to bringing comfort, ease, and companionship to people at the thresholds of living and dying. P.A.T.H.  (Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness)

Program is provided to support individuals with serious mental illnesses as well as individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Housing, diagnostic screening and therapeutic treatment for serious mental illness, case management services, job training, educational opportunities, referral for substance abuse, and primary healthcare.  Walk-in clinic:  Monday-Friday 8:30 am-3:30 pm.
